The salt industry would also be impacted by the dwindling need for road salt. Not to mention the auto industry not having the rot caused by the salt to force the need of new cars.

What would be cool is if they could also be used to power electric cars. I know they could. Again it will never happen. Exactly. Until we can push politics and money aside all this 'neat stuff' will remain in the corner. Bummer huh.

Severe bummer. Money hampering innovation. Didn't it used to be the other way round

They are individual panels put together by some means and joints will flex depending on road base...
Would like to see it put down and give it the ultimate test.

Still nothing stating cost.
This system would seem to be very beneficial but you've got to put it down in order to make it work.
What are the costs?

Hell if it were delivering three times the power needs of the entire country, you could put magnetic high speed rail along the roads for mass transit.
Opps there goes the continental air industry. The air would be so clean. This is a fantastic idea.

Nevermind whether I believe if it works and is viable. If I do buy into it and accept that it works, what does it cost? I suspect the price tag would make the people in Vancouver blush...

Asphalt is $2300 (12'x50') And it's going the way of the dinosaur. Like what I did there?

Somehow you've got to come up with the money to put it down... And if someone claims their product will pay for it's self in a certain time frame, you would expect they have the numbers at hand.
What are the numbers?

I'm sure they are looking for financial aid ...

How much will your panels cost?
We are not yet able to give numbers on cost. We are still in the midst of our Phase II contract with the Federal Highway Administration and we'll be analyzing our prototype costs near the end of our contract which ends in July, 2014. Afterward, we'll be able to do a production-style cost analysis.

Damn it give me the numbers! Let's hire someone to put it down, and do it on a cost plus since we have no idea what it will cost. Then we'll find a way to pay the bill. Makes perfectly good sense I suppose.
