Social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter are a big draw for narcissists, but the ego-boosting tools are used in different self-aggrandizing ways by different generations, a University of Michigan study suggests. The study details how young adults of college age and their adult counterparts use social media in differing ways to bolster their egos and control perceptions of others. Vain college-age students favour the mouthpiece of Twitter to amplify their opinions and views in cyberspace. 'It's about curating your own image, how you are seen, and also checking on how others respond to this image.' —Elliot Panek, University of Michigan researcher "Young people overvaluate the importance of their own opinions," said study researcher Elliot Panek. "Through Twitter, they're trying to broaden their social circles and broadcast their views about a wide range of topics and issues." Adults who exhibit narcissism tend to prefer Facebook, which serves as a mirror. "It's about curating your own image, how you are seen, and also checking on how others respond to this image," said Panek. "Middle-aged adults usually have already formed their social selves and they use social media to gain approval from those who are already in their social circles." www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2013/06/11/tech-facebook-narcissism.html

FB is quality entertainment. "Look at me, I'm pretty. Listen to my opinion. Blah, blah, blah." I'm particularly fond of the douche bags that are self righteous in their posts. I rarely post on FB, but I am a fan.
I get all of my narcissism out here on the boards...

^^^ lol I remember opening my first MySpace page, collecting codes and customizing the page to my liking. It attracts creative minded people too. I remember your myspace account, it was very pretty!

Not all of the people posting are narcissistic idiots. There are plenty of people that use it as an effective social, communication method. I dig that too. Everything from vacation pics to what happened at the bar last night, to band updates all make for interesting eye candy.

I had enormous fun with it. Changed it around constantly. But the glitches were cumbersome as I recall. The news/bulletin board was always in a state of disarray for one reason or another. Still, I was one of the last converts over to FB, I thought it so bland and sterile at first. FB is not as asthetically pleasing as Myspace was. I never had a myspace account but I did like yours. Selfies. An act usally carried out by girls aged 12-21, the act involves taking photos of ones self while posing.

There are clear winners too. The fail ones are funnier though

There are some epic FAIL posters made from some of them. I saw a few of them when I was looking for a demo pic. The toilet one, the one with the dirty underwear on the floor and the one with the baby in the background are epic fails.
