Cory Monteith -- who famously played Finn Hudson on the TV show "Glee" -- died early Saturday morning in Vancouver ... he was 31 years old. According to police in Vancouver the actor was found dead in his hotel room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel around noon ... when staffers went to check on him after the actor missed his check-out time. In a press conference, officials said the actor was "clearly deceased" -- and had been so for several hours -- when police arrived on the scene.

So sad. I was shocked when I first read about it but apparently he had addiction problems. Poor Lea Michele must be heartbroken. I haven't watched much of Glee since the original group graduated but I did enjoy the show for awhile.

The actor’s father Joe Monteith told Global News he is “devastated” and Cory’s cousin Richard Monteith has spoken out to defend his reputation.
He says he is angry about comments that have exploded in the media and speculation about how and why his cousin died.
“Every day it’s hard to wake up,” said Richard. “Especially with some of the speculation, uneducated comments, and ignorance that comes out through some of these people. It was very hurtful.”
Monteith’s cause of death is not known at this time. An autopsy has been conducted and some results could be released as early as Tuesday, but it will take a few days for toxicology results to come through.
His parents are trying to grieve privately, said Richard, and understand what led to their son’s early death.
“We’re still in shock and disbelief, we’re still in mourning, but it’s a different mourning, it’s an aggravated mourning,” Richard added.
“We can’t mourn in silence, we can’t mourn with our family.

VANCOUVER - British Columbia's coroner says "Glee" actor Cory Monteith died from an overdose of heroin and alcohol combined.
Post-mortem testing by the BC Coroners' Service, which included an autopsy and toxicology analysis, confirmed the drug toxicity.
The coroners' service says there is no evidence to suggest Monteith's death was anything other than a tragic accident, though the investigation continues.
The service says the man's family has been made aware of the circumstances surrounding his death.
Monteith was found dead in his hotel room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in downtown Vancouver on Saturday.
After his body was found, police said he was alone when he died and had apparently been dead for several hours before his body was discovered.

Heroin. This is a direct cause and affect relationship. Heroin = Death. That's just the way it is.
