Stuart Scott, ESPN Anchor, Dies At 49
Stuart Scott, the beloved longtime ESPN anchor, passed away on Sunday at the age of 49 after a protracted battle with cancer. The man was as cool as the other side of the pillow and will be missed dearly by sports fans everywhere. His body of work is massive, but the most impressive thing we’ve ever seen him do is deliver this acceptance speech at the ESPY Awards. Agency: Icing Of Engines Likely Cause Of AirAsia Crash
With just a few pieces of wreckage and a total of 31 bodies recovered, Indonesia’s meteorological agency called the poor weather a “triggering factor” in the crash of AirAsia Flight 8501 last week. The agency theorized that as the entered a layer of clouds, ice built up on the engines, causing damage. This seems pretty speculative, given that the Airbus A320’s flight data recorders — colloquially known as “black boxes” — have yet to be recovered. Unintentionally drawing attention to one of it’s more annoying problems, Fab CEO Jason Goldberg unleashed a 44-tweet rant on Saturday morning. Mainly, he complained that Twitter has been too focused on monetizing its users, rather than its platform. Maybe Goldberg shouldn’t be so harsh. After all, in the last year, Fab has gone from a company with a $1 billion valuation to laying off hundreds of employees and offering itself up for fire sale. I found that extremely inappropriate. The cops in this province are protesting cuts to their pension funds. They're wearing camouflage or Texas sheriff outfits, and their cars are plastered with stickers. However, when they were needed for crowd control at Beliveau's funeral, they dressed in their proper uniforms and cleaned up their cars...OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE MAN. It was not the time for political posturing.
