Baby floats 1km out to sea in inflatable toy after sunbathing parents forget about her Ten-month-old baby Melda Ilgin is seen drifting alone a kilometre from the shore (Picture: Anadolu Agency/Getty)
This is why you should always keep your eyes on your kids when you’re at the beach. A ten-month-old baby has been rescued after she was found floating nearly 1km out at sea in an inflatable toy. Turkish coastguard made a dramatic rescue after strong winds took Melda Ilgın Çanakkale beach in Turkey out towards the Greek Island of Lesbos. Turkish coast guards rescued the girl as she drifted away from the Turkish coastline towards the Greek island of Lesbos (Picture: Anadolu Agency/Getty) The Turkey’s BGN News say the child’s parents had forgotten they had left her in the flotation device. They did not realise what had happened to Melda until other sunbathers saw the child drifting out to sea. Turkish news sources say the parents confessed they had forgotten they had left her in the flotation device (Picture: Anadolu Agency/Getty)Other people at beach tried to reach the infant but the current was too strong and they called the coast guard. The child was picked up and brought back to shore. Source
