Times wonders if Serena Williams deserves Sportsperson of the Year more than a horse Did Sports Illustrated make a huge mistake in choosing tennis star Serena Williams as its 2015 Sportsperson of the Year over American Pharoah? Despite the fact that American Pharoah is not technically even a sports "person," but a horse? This question, while laughable to most, has been the subject of hot debate online today following SI's announcement that Williams – human tennis champion – had, in fact, been awarded the prestigious title. Well in this topsy turvy new world we live in where the woman of the year is a man in a dress then I guess the sports person of the year doesn't necessarily need to be a person. Think of all the options that opens for us!
