This is what you can expect from Exxon!
Exxon has been filling up pockets and making deals like crazy in an effort to screw us all with a pipeline from Alberta to the US Gulf coast. Disastrous deal! If Canada sells out I'm leaving.

They can't make it safe and when something catastrophic happens they have no way to clean it. For them clean up is synonymous with cover up.

This is not what I want to see from Canada. How embarrassing is it that the tar sands are one of the most polluting sources of fossil fuels in the world?

I hope everyone bitchin' about this product has stopped using it! So I guess if you have it bubbling through your back yard and down your driveway, and into storm drains that empty into the river where your dad taught you to fish, and your children are vomiting from the fumes, if you have a car in said driveway you cannot complain?

Of course they have a right to complain...I guess that was directed at you. You seem to be anti-anything-oil. You should stop buying their crap. Shit happens...put on your big boy pants, clean up the mess and 'drive on'!

Apple, give me your thoughts on this proposed pipeline. You are the first dissenting view I've ran into. Enbridge Inc., battling stubborn resistance to its Northern Gateway pipeline on Canada’s West Coast, is tying the fortunes of the project to British Columbia’s liquefied natural gas industry. In its final submission to the joint review panel last week, the Calgary-based company says B.C. stands to benefit from the more than $18-billion of investment in its oil and gas industry if the controversial pipeline is built, providing “a ready source of capital investment that would be essential to the development of a British Columbia LNG industry.” “There’s a strong correlation between net income and reinvestment in the oil and gas sector,” Northern Gateway Pipelines president John Carruthers said in an interview. “So the more they get, the more they spend, and there’s a historical pattern of that investment of which a good chunk of it is in British Columbia.” B.C. Premier Christy Clark has sought to distance her Liberal government from the $6.3-billion Gateway project, which would deliver 525,000 barrels of Alberta crude from the Edmonton area to a new supertanker port at Kitimat, about 600 kilometres north of Vancouver. That stance, cemented in last week’s outright rejection of the pipeline, is at odds with high hopes for B.C.’s LNG industry. Ms. Clark is counting on oil sands companies such as Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Chevron Corp. and Imperial Oil Ltd. to spend billions on export terminals and drilling programs to stuff provincial coffers and kick-start a brand new industry in the process. “People need to understand that the higher netbacks [as a result of Gateway] results in more and more activity, including natural gas,” Mr. Carruthers said. “And natural gas, now, is something that B.C. sees more benefit in directly than oil.” Read more: www.ottawacitizen.com/business/fp/Northern+Gateway+riches+would+benefit+British+Columbia+Enbridge/8490178/story.html#ixzz2VYPUOgYo

Frankly I don't believe any of this is worth the risk, when the environment hangs in the balance.

Frankly I don't believe any of this is worth the risk, when the environment hangs in the balance. I have to wonder about the motivation of our Premier Ms. Clark. Is she really concerned about the environment or is this just posturing to create a scenario where more money will be thrown at BC?

It's always the money. Believe me she's getting her cut too I am afraid you may be right. The last stand I feel is really the Natives who have been very vocal and involved in letting Enbridge know they will not tolerate this threat to the land. However, we know historically what a few pretty beads can do to their declarations.
