CONSERVATIVES GRAB GUNS, BIBLES TO PREP FOR OBAMA INVASION AFTER SEEING CAR MARKED ‘UN’ IN VIRGINIA
BY JOE CLARK - JUNE 28, 2016
Over recent days, paranoid conservatives have been in a tizzy over videos and photos of white UN armored vehicles in transport on flatbed trucks near Lexington, Virginia.
Never one to miss an opportunity to take advantage of an uproar, Tea Party queen Sarah Palin sent out this uber-constructive Facebook post.

Palin and many other neo-con nutjobs thought it might be fun (and profitable) to fan the flames of rumor and misinformation rather than find out and promote the truth. I know shocking right?
Can’t begin to tell you how many of these I passed today on 81 near Lexington VA,” wrote conservative Jeff Stern along with photos of the vehicles being hauled on trailers.

Some conservatives got a little mixed up and started telling fellow conspiracy nuts this was happening in Lexington, Kentucky not Virginia. This misunderstanding helped create the illusion of an ongoing multi-state operation. And, as Palin not so subtly suggested, conservatives started to believe that Obama was finally coming for their guns. Here is a small sample of their insanity.

Lions, and tigers, and bears oh my.
The Daily Mail irresponsibly added to the hysteria by putting forth the question of if the UN was in the U.S. to prepare for an economic collapse. Very helpful Daily Mail, very helpful.
This incident is also very similar to a panic episode last year brought on by Jade Helm 15, a military training exercise that led many to speculate about martial law or a military invasion.
“Are these U.N. troops here preparing for economic collapse in America?” fretted a blogger at the Liberty Is Viral website. “Is this related to Iran ships approaching the U.S. border?”
The answer was, of course, no and no.
Unfortunately, for those eager doomsday fans just itching to shoot invading non-English speaking blue-helmeted soldiers, there is, as there always is, a rational explanation that ruins everything.
The UN vehicles in question were in transit on I-81 near Lexington, Virginia, on their way to a nearby port. Once at the harbor they were loaded onto a ship and transported overseas to conduct UN operations.
But why were the vehicles in Virginia in the first place? Because the UN Vehicles were made were made in Virgina. The U.S. gives billions of dollars every year to the United Nations. The UN, in turn, spends some of that money on new military vehicles, which are made in the U.S. After the factories finish the order, the UN vehicles are shipped by truck and train to the port nearest the country they are going to.
Here’s how Snopes explained it:
Unlike the Daily Mail, we contacted Alpine Armoring, the manufacturer named in their article, to inquire about the images. According to an individual with whom we spoke at Alpine, the vehicles seen in these photographs were purchased by the United Nations for use outside the United States. A number of defense industry manufacturers are based in and around Washington, D.C. (a region that includes Virginia) for obvious logistical reasons, and the representative confirmed that the trucks were ordered by the UN for use in locations abroad.
After manufacturing, the UN vehicles require transportation to their final ports of call inside the U.S., and driving them to those final embarkation points could potentially put several thousand miles on them prior to their being loaded onto cargo planes or ships, so the trucks seen here were loaded onto a flatbed truck and transported in that fashion. It is a reasonable inference that, depending on their route and final destination, the same trucks would be spotted in other Southern states (particularly if they were to be sent abroad via a cargo ship leaving from a Southern port).
This very insightful gentleman who goes by WAPTEK on YouTube, had a very comprehensive analysis of this story and the right-wing overreaction. Check it out.
