Abstinence Advocate Bristol Palin Announces Second Unplanned Pregnancy Absolutely.” “I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you,” she wrote. BY KIA MAKARECHI Bristol Palin, the daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, announced on Thursday that she was pregnant with her second child out of wedlock. “I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant,” Palin wrote on her blog. “Honestly, I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one.” The news comes just one month after Palin suddenly called off her wedding to Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, which had been scheduled for May 23. Palin did not comment on the identity of the father in her blog post. Palin announced that she was pregnant with her first child, Tripp Palin, during her mother’s campaign for the vice-presidency. Palin was 17 at the time. She was twice engaged to Tripp’s father, Levi Johnston, but both engagements were broken off. (Johnston married a different woman in 2012.) “I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you,” she wrote on Thursday. “But please respect Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy.” Since her first pregnancy, Palin has made a career out of campaigning for abstinence. In 2011, it was widely reported that she was paid $262,500 from the Candie’s Foundation, a non-profit organization that fights teen pregnancy by supporting abstinence work. Palin is also listed as an expert on abstinence on the Web site of Single Source Speakers, a booking agency. Palin’s message, however, has been inconsistent. In a February 2009 interview with Fox’s Greta Van Susteren, she said that while she’s pro-abstinence, she takes a more realistic view. “I think abstinence is, like—like, the—I don't know how to put it—like, the main—everyone should be abstinent or whatever, but it's not realistic at all,” she said, according to a transcript of the interview. Three months later, she had sharpened her message: “Regardless of what I did personally, I just think that abstinence is the only . . . 100 percent foolproof way to prevent pregnancy.” She has since said that she wishes she had waited until she was in a stable relationship before becoming pregnant the first time. “My life, my teenage years were cut completely short. I was on the fast track to adulthood just in an instant because of that one decision,” Palin told CNN in 2011. “And Tripp is just the love of my life. He is everything to me. But do I wish that he had a dad that was involved in his life? Absolutely. And do I wish that I had an education and a real career path? Source

Yup... nothing quite like an unwed pregnant (for the second time) mother calling for abstinence.
ETA: what are the odds that she only "fell off the abstinence wagon" twice... once for each pregnancy? I'm thinking there was more than sex twice happening with that girl.

If she met me she likely couldn't (not because I'm so awesome, but because apparently she's not as abstinent as she wants people to believe)... but I've never met her so that's about as accurate as your thoughts on the Confederacy.

What's wrong with their family values? They have kids, they take care of them. Seems like family values to me.

one man, one woman (only) married (only to each other) for eternity, no infidelity, abstinence before marriage...
all professed & all 'ideals' broken too many times for your party to still call themselves that.

She's against birth control?

She's against birth control? She made a million dollars preaching abstinence and saying if you must have sex, you have to use birth control. Every single time. No exceptions.
I guess it only applies to other people. Mama Grizzly was pregnant when she "eloped to save money". Track married a visibly pregnant girlfriend. Bristol is pregnant again. Between all the hypocritical, unprotected fuc*ing, gay slurs and drunken street brawls, I can't say much for this family's values. The only time I ever agreed with them is when they wore their "Trash And Proud Of It" T-shirts.

Well, what's your beef? If she said no exceptions, every time or you will wind up preggers, well she wound up preggers.

It occurs to me that Bristol is a good example of someone who should visit a Planned Parenthood clinic.

It occurs to me that Bristol is a good example of someone who should visit a Planned Parenthood clinic. It's most certainly a teachable moment. I know for a fact that father's from my generation are teaching their sons not to get together with these girls that already have babies. I am a first hand example.

No doubt, it seems they have issues with birth control, some even lie about being on the pill. That is why boys should be taught to take matters into their own hands.... by that I mean use condoms.

I was reading that there were some who were congratulating her. Now she says this pregnancy was planned. Maybe if the media would ignore this trash family, they would just go back to Wasila. Won't happen. Mama bear has taught her daughter well how to use the media.

Well, once the deed is done and the decision made to keep the kid, what else is anyone going to do. No amount of ridicule or talk of hypocrisy will change the fact that she has a kid on the way. And she'll know it every time she wakes up for the rest of her life.

She's against birth control? well, snickster- to begin with- abstinence is THE BEST birth control out there & she is obviously against that even though she hypocritically proselytized about AND made money from it. i'm betting the people over at the candie foundation are just thrilled about their huge waste of money on her.
2nd- she is not a stupid girl- oh wait- apparently she is if she thought that having sex without birth control was the way to NOT get pregnant despite the first time around that failed.... so can you HONESTLY say she ISN'T against it? not even condoms? holy cow- at least she could have thought about getting an STD.
stop trying to defend her; you look silly.

It occurs to me that Bristol is a good example of someone who should visit a Planned Parenthood clinic. she should CONtribute some of her past speaking fees to them since she pretty much got it through fraudulent means.
