I would like to hear, and discuss everyone's ideas. Scientific back-up would be nice on explanations, But feel free to use your imagination, if you tell us that is what your doing.
I will start you with a definition, then follow the first posters thoughts and musings.
English Etymology parallel + universe Noun parallel universe (plural parallel universes) (sciences, science fiction) A universe that exists separately alongside another universe.

Space is so big, the rules of probability imply that somewhere out there other planets exist that are exactly like Earth.
Are black holes portals to new universes? Do black holes bend time? I don't know but its a possibility isn't it?
More to say on this but not enough time.

We can get into black hole mechanics later but my belief would be that they are not portals. They do indeed bend time. The slow to zero movement as you approach a black hole would essentially make it where you eventually stopped moving in space and time as part of its increasing mass. Albert Einstien tells us that time around gravity bends. Time in satellites moves faster than even here on earth. So on the surface and ever increasing layers of other matter above you, time stops for you while we look at the black hole continuing to gobble up matter space and time.. don't perceive a slow down at all.
Science fiction and some theories of Parallel Universes discuss the I'll call it decision effect. Where there are infinite universes each forming as we make new decisions, and compounding on the next in each universe ad infinitum. String theory would support this. As we walk through the tapestry that is the subatomic pan dimensional wiggly strings, vibrating them. Creating new universes in our wake.

If Quantum theory explains that the parallel universe exists and the same electrons seem to be in two places at once, this gives the theory of parallel universes merit correct? Lets meander through this, not run. ( )

Is that what you need to do in order to think outside the box Dom?

Is that what you need to do in order to think outside the box Dom? Physcists don't understand any of this parallel universe stuff. What chance have the rest of us got? It doesn't hurt to explore different avenues of thought. Scientists know a fair bit, its just about putting the pieces together. Gosh if you were in charge we would all still be living in caves. :P

Maybe it is just more wishful thinking perhaps ? I believe it is more than that. But thats just me.

Totally ignoring eveything off topic... Theory is just that, unproven, the math mostly adds up but there is no demonstrative experiment to give it proof. Plus In my example there has to be 13 dimensions for the math to work. So even us little non scientific types have as much idea as the big brains.

Anyway. All the talk in the physics world is about multi-verses now. There maybe many replicas of each of us all at different levels of development and possibly in different roles. Its all just theory at the moment though. There may be many different versions of our Earth at different stages. I'd agree with that. About us having doppelgangers on other planets, that is a fascinating thought don't you think?

Here is a slightly different bend on the whole idea.
Each person is a unique universe. We are actually trapped in our own bodies and minds every experience is singular to ourselves even if someone is sharing them their experience is different from our own.

I believe each of us is our own universe. To what degree though where do we start and end? Schopenhauer’s world is an interesting one.

I know exactly what on of my doppelgangers is doing right now, and with whom. ( ) ( )

Keeping on topic seems to be like herding kittens. At least we are cute though.

I have been inspired to ask about some other concepts as well. So look for more like this. Having fun with the topic is what its all about. I like your humors.

Enough of this Parallel Universes, i just about cope with Parallel Parking.
I believe that there is a parallel plain or universe, i fact i believe that there is an infinite amount of parallel universe all running concurrent to each other, needless to say that they are running their own course and every now and then some may match up with their events at the exact same moment in time, for that to happen it has to be agreed that they all run with the same system of measuring time but may have time zones similar to this universe. Some maybe further advanced to ours while some maybe retarded to ours, who is to say that our universe is the primary one? it is a thought that we would like to think is true.
I do like Professor Emit Browns explanation of parallel universes. BTTF2.

Then again maybe time travel shifts between different branches of reality?

If you sit in a mirror cage do you think you can see all of them at once?
