A terrible terrible crime. But.... I'm not surprised really. These people are making a point, make fun of my god and you will pay. Really, I thought this would have happened before now. Satire is not evil, you don't have to look at it if you don't want to. Nothing is sacred, no cartoon is worth killing people for.

Here @shoe, I think this says it better than I could: Because the kind of blasphemy that Charlie Hebdo engaged in had deadly consequences, as everyone knew it could … and that kind of blasphemy is precisely the kind that needs to be defended, because it’s the kind that clearly serves a free society’s greater good. If a large enough group of someones is willing to kill you for saying something, then it’s something that almost certainly needs to be said, because otherwise the violent have veto power over liberal civilization, and when that scenario obtains it isn’t really a liberal civilization any more. Again, liberalism doesn’t depend on everyone offending everyone else all the time, and it’s okay to prefer a society where offense for its own sake is limited rather than pervasive. But when offenses are policed by murder, that’s when we need more of them, not less, because the murderers cannot be allowed for a single moment to think that their strategy can succeed.Source

PARIS — The French police on Friday killed the two brothers suspected of massacring 12 people at a Paris newspaper on Wednesday and freed a hostage they had been holding unharmed, the authorities said. But at least three hostages were killed when the police staged a separate assault on a kosher supermarket in Paris. Five hostages at the supermarket, on the eastern edge of Paris, were injured, and five were reported to have been freed. The hostage taker, described as an associate of the brothers, was also killed, according to a senior French police official. The first assault began shortly after 5 p.m. Explosions and gunfire were heard at a printing plant in Dammartin-en-Goële, outside of Paris, where the two brothers, the suspects in the attack Wednesday on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, were holding a single hostage. Emergency services evacuated a wounded person after a shooting at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical newspaper, in Paris on Wednesday. As Trauma Grips France, Government Faces Questions Over Intelligence LapsesJAN. 9, 2015 video Inside Charlie Hebdo After the AttackJAN. 9, 2015 Al Qaeda Trained Suspect in Paris Terror Attack, Official SaysJAN. 8, 2015 graphic Tracking the Manhunt for the Charlie Hebdo KillersJAN. 7, 2015 Rocco Contento, spokesman for the Unité S.G.P. police union in Paris, said that the assault had unfolded rapidly and confirmed that the two brothers, Saïd and Chérif Kouachi, were dead. “The operation in Dammartin is finished,” Mr. Contento said. “The two suspects have been killed and the hostage has been freed. The special counterterrorism forces located where the terrorists are and broke down the door. They took them by surprise. It lasted a matter of minutes.” Moments later, gunfire erupted at a kosher supermarket on the eastern end of Paris where the alleged associate of the brothers, Amedy Coulibaly, was also holding hostages. One woman was seen running from the market as heavily armed police officers moved in. The gunman in the supermarket had threatened to kill his hostages if the Kouachi brothers were attacked. Source

Paris is a country of free speech, there are many ways to voice discontent. These terrorists are insane and full of religious hatred so vile it consumes them. SUCH a violent religion, although violence has historically been a part of most religions. almost correct hon. the FACT is that islam is the ONLY so called religion in the world who PRIMARY tenet is committing murder. NO other book except the one hallucinated by the baby raper commands its followers to murder or enslave EVERYone that they encounter. 109 times in the pedophile's delusions, he commands violence. there is NO other religious book that comes close to matching it for violence

Despite a shoot-out wit h armed officers, the gunmen escaped in a hijacked car and remained on the loose this evening. This left the French capital in virtual lockdown as police and soldiers flooded the streets to join the search. The three suspects were tonight said by Metronews to be all French citizens - a homeless teenage man aged 18, and two brothers aged 32 and 34. President Barack Obama offered U.S. help in pursuing the gunmen, saying they had attacked freedom of expression. But it also emerged that the White House had previously criticised Charlie Hebdo in 2012 over its Prophet Mohammed cartoon. At the time it had said that the images would be 'deeply offensive to many and have the potential to be inflammatory'. big Fing doo. those who it offends need offending. the president has no right criticizing the paper. the paper has the right to print whatever it chooses, and offend whoever it chooses

Really? You are going to ignore the fact that police who initially camr on scene had to retreat because they had no weapons? Oh ok. Link please. There is NO MENTION of them not having guns and quite frankly its a stupid comment. The terrorists held a woman and child hostage to gain entry to the building and started shooting/killing people upon entering. There was a shootout with police when they left the building. YOU are being stupid hon. the shootout was with the armed police who showed up AFTER the attack began. just as in the u.k. most cops do NOT have guns. what this episode PROVES is, had the police, AND citizens, been armed, there would have been fewer humans dead, and the scum would have been

I feel for the victims' loved ones. And I feel for all people. When these violent acts occur so many agonize over the "why". People are people, period. Regardless of what religion terrorists attempt to justify their violence under and with, the bottom line is it's still people who are committing the maiming and killing. NO, it is NOT. this scum are those who have made the conscious, willful CHOICE to be less than human

Why does it "wreck" you? There is EVIL in the world. Why is that a surprise? Sure snicks, there is evil in the world. That does not mean I don't feel for these people and when I see that mans last seconds of life it bothers me. It should bother you too, or anyone capable of empathy, sympathy or compassion. it damn sure bothers me. the french government has his blood on their hands. it is despicable that he didn't have a gun and kill the worthless piece of shyt before it could kill him

good for you. i trust that the primary focus of the vigil was to denounce the terrorist vermin who murdered the people. damn, i must apologize to all vermin. it was despicable of me to elevate terrorist scum up to the level of vermin, disparaging all vermin

New 'Charlie Hebdo' cover releasedA handout released on January 12, 2015, in Paris by French newspaper Charlie Hebdo shows the frontpage of the upcoming "survivors" edition of the French satirical weekly with a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed holding up a "Je suis Charlie" ('I am Charlie') sign under the words: "Tout est pardonne" ('All is forgiven'). (Photo: HO, AFP/Getty Images)
The latest issue of French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, published by survivors of last week's deadly terror attack, features a cover cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed holding a sign that says "Je suis Charlie,'' an echo of the slogan of support for freedom of speech that spread across the globe after the tragedy. The news agency Agence France-Presse on Monday distributed a copy of the new cover, which carries a caption that reads "Tout est pardonne,'' which translates into English as all is forgiven. USA TODAY traditionally does not show images of Mohammed to avoid offending Muslim readers. But the magazine cover has enough news value to warrant its publication in this case. Remaining Charlie Hebdo staff on Tuesday said an unprecedented run of 3 million copies of the next issue Wednesday were planned. "Three million people will have Mohammed's, the prophet's drawing, at home," Zineb El Rhazoui, a columnist for the newspaper, told the BBC. The remaining staff previously said that a million copied would be published. "We will not give in. The spirit of 'I am Charlie' means the right to blaspheme," lawyer Richard Malka told France Info radio. The press run is a huge jump from the normal circulation of 60,000 copies and reflects the strong outpouring of support from the public, including a show of solidarity by 1.5 million people in central Paris on Sunday. Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)
If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)
